Vegan and plant-based breakfast on the Gold Coast

Eating plant-based on the Gold Coast used to mean a side of avocado and not much else. It doesn't at Tarte. There are proper vegan and vegetarian options across both the Burleigh bakery and the Beach House in Currumbin, made with the same care as everything else on the bench.

What to order, plant-based

Our Avo Toast is fully vegan, avocado with fried shallot, puffed grain, chilli flakes and fresh lime on multi-grain sourdough. The Garden Tartine is the one that surprises people, avo, zucchini, asparagus, edamame, snow peas, garden peas, watermelon radish and herbs on grain sourdough, vegan with a gluten-free option. The Chopped Wombok Salad is built for a lighter lunch.

If you eat dairy, the Tomato Bagel and the Miso Scramble are both vegetarian, and the Creamy Porridge and Health Bowl each come with a vegan option.

A note on how we do it

These are real menu items, not afterthoughts, but we're an all-day kitchen and bakery rather than a dedicated plant-based facility, so if you have a strict requirement just let the team know and they'll talk you through what works. Gluten-free bread is available across the menu too.

Two places to do it

The same plant-based thinking runs at both venues. In Burleigh you're in the thick of the bakery from 6:30am. At the Beach House in Currumbin you can take it down to the Cafe on the sand by the creek, dog at your feet, and make a slow morning of it.
