Beside the restaurant at Tarte Beach House, looking out over Currumbin Creek, the Tea Garden is where we slow the day right down. It's high tea the way it should be. House-made, generous, and in one of the prettiest spots on the southern Gold Coast.
What's on the tiers
Everything that arrives at your table was made by our own kitchen and bakery. The savoury tier brings our house bagels and finger sandwiches, think salmon bagel, cucumber sandwich and chicken sandwich, and the sweet tier is the bakery showing off: scones with jam and fresh cream, our brown butter choc chip cookie, the strawberry and white chocolate muffin top, speciality tartes and our signature crullers.
High tea is 55 per person and includes a hot or cold drink of your choice. Add 2.50 to make it one of our cloud drinks or a proper hot chocolate. Sittings run for 90 minutes, Wednesday to Sunday from 9am.
To drink, choose from our speciality teas served in the pot, from French Earl Grey to Strawberries and Cream, or go further: the Tea Garden pours the cloud drink range, French old-fashioned hot chocolate, and a full list of bubbles from prosecco to Veuve Clicquot, with mimosas and Aperol spritz for the celebrating kind.
A waterfront setting
Tarte Beach House sits right on Currumbin Creek. The Cafe is down on the sand, the restaurant sits beside it looking out over the water, The Tea Garden is its own escape in florals and greenery and The Hideout is perched above it all, taking in the creek through the branches of a 100-year-old fig tree. The Tea Garden is the calm, light corner of the site, the kind of setting that suits a milestone. It's where people bring their mum, their grandmother, the friend who's earned a proper afternoon.
Made for the occasion
High tea is for marking something. Birthdays, baby showers, a hen's afternoon, a long-overdue catch-up. For your own private high tea we can reserve the Tea Garden just for your group, or take the whole space for up to 80 guests with canapés, cocktails and bubbles. The Hideout above offers a fully private high tea for 12 to 32 guests with water views through the fig tree. You're always welcome to walk in, but for high tea we'd recommend booking your sitting ahead so we've got your table by the water ready.
