Kayak and paddle board hire, Currumbin Creek, Gold Coast

Currumbin Creek is one of the flattest, clearest stretches of water on the Gold Coast, and Tarte Beach House sits right on the sand at the creek mouth. Hire a stand up paddle board or a kayak from the cafe, walk it ten metres to the water and launch straight off the beach. No boat ramp, no car park shuffle, no experience needed.

Prices and hours

Paddle boards and kayaks are $30 an hour with the paddle included. A life jacket is $5 extra. Paddle boards are booked online, with the first session at 8:30am and the last start at 1:20pm. If you want more than one board, pick your time and add a second time for each extra board.

We have four kayaks, hired in store at the cafe. Come in, ask at the counter and we will set you up.

Where to find us

Tarte Beach House, Shop 1, 2 to 4 Thrower Drive, Currumbin QLD 4223. Collect your board or kayak from the cafe downstairs, right next to the sand. Free parking is next to the Beach House, with more a short stroll over the bridge.

Who it suits

Beginners, families and anyone who wants a calm paddle rather than surf. The creek is protected from the ocean swell, so the water stays flat and clear through the morning. Experienced paddlers can head upstream toward the hinterland or down to the creek mouth and the rock wall.

After your paddle

Hand the board back and sit down. The cafe on the sand does coffee and pastries from 6:30am, the restaurant does brunch, and there is a glass of wine by the water if the morning has earned it. The Tea Garden is beside the restaurant for high tea.
